Ta, a junior at the University of Northern Iowa, was cited on the UNI Department of Communication Studies’ website for her first published IowaWatch story, “Getting G.I. Benefits is a Challenge for Iowa’s Veterans in College”. The story was published on April 6 at IowaWatch.org and several newspapers in Iowa, was the source material for two Eastern Iowa television news reports and was one of the topics discussed on the Bob Bruce radio show on WMT AM-600, on April 11.

Hadley, a University of Iowa sophomore, was part of a team of journalism and mass communication students who won a University of Iowa’s James F. Fox Public Relations Student Society of America competition for media coverage of a crisis event. The team had to practice covering a crisis scenario by attending a press conference, and then produce a news report. Industry professionals judged the simulated scenario.
