Ailing vet ‘dumped’ by Onawa care site

John Chedester, 65, was left in an unfurnished apartment with no food or medicine due to failure to pay his bills. He was hospitalized two days later. The care site was fined $5,000, but no criminal charges were filed despite denial of critical care being a form of criminal dependent-adult abuse in Iowa.
