People enjoy the rural setting for an Oct. 22, 2015, Iowa Center for Public Affairs Journalism-IowaWatch fundraiser at the Walker Homestead west of Iowa City. We'll do it again this year, on Sept. 16, 2016, to raise funds for the nonprofit, nonpartisan news organization.

IowaWatch board member Bob Walker and his wife, Kristy, are inviting the public to a fundraiser and silent auction at their home west of Iowa City to raise funds for the non-profit Iowa Center for Public Affairs Journalism, which operates IowaWatch.

The event will be on Friday, Sept. 16, from 6 to 9:30 p.m. at the Walker Homestead, 3913 James Ave. SW.

Provender sets up its wood-fired oven in preparation for the 2015 IowaWatch Fun-raiser and silent auction.

The evening provide an opportunity to meet with old friends or network with new ones, enjoy wine and cheese, and enjoy an Iowa September sunset with wood-fired pizza cooked on the spot in a restored and refashioned antique truck by the Iowa City-based caterer, Provender. A similar event was held last year in October.

Silent auction items will include two tickets to the Oct. 14 Hancher Auditorium performance of “Book of Mormon”, two tickets to the Oct. 1 Iowa Homecoming football game against Northwestern University, mementoes and baked goods. All proceeds after expenses will benefit the Iowa Center for Public Affairs Journalism, which operates IowaWatch.
