Simply defining populism is a chore. But evaluating whether or not populism is good or bad is a whole other task. IowaWatch was part of an “Ethical Perspectives on the News” program exploring those ideas.
IowaWatch Executive Director-Editor Lyle Muller was a guest on a recent Ethical Perspectives on the News program KCRG-TV-9 along with Tim Hagle, professor of political science at the University of Iowa; and Jesse Case of Teamsters Local 238. The host and moderator was Karl Cassell.

“Ethical Perspectives on the News,” a public affairs program produced by the Inter-Religious Council of Linn County for KCRG-TV9 in Cedar Rapids, Iowa, tackled the impact of political advertising in its Sunday, Dec. 21, 2014, show. IowaWatch participated.

KCRG-TV9 news anchor Beth Malicki interviewed IowaWatch Executive Director-Editor Lyle Muller about the IowaWatch collaboration with four newspapers, “Iowa’s Opportunity Gap,” for her Nov. 17, 2013, public affairs show, “To The Point.” The 2013 Iowa’s Opportunity Gap project examined gulfs that have grown during 50 years in the home ownership, income, education, jobs and crime rates among white, black and Latino Iowans.
